Ghosting

OK, I have a (non) secret to admit.....I love watching and reading things about ghosts. I love Ghost Hunters (http://www.syfy.com/ghosthunters) but do not like Ghost Adventures. And that is because the ones on GH are respectful - on GA they are rube, obnoxious, and confrontational. And I think all people - alive or not - should be treated with respect.

Yes, I even watch that show about celebrities and their ghost experiences.

I like reading good ghost stories, both fictional (I love Heather Graham) and autobiographical like thru this site:
http://www.iseedeadfolks.blogspot.com/

And that is because I believe in, or want to believe in, ghosts. Now mediums....well there I am still a skeptic. Maybe because I have never had a personal experience with a medium  but I think I have seen ghosts in my life - but never where I want to!

When I was a little girl and living at Ft. Sheridan IL I know the house we were in was haunted. I still know it to this day. The basement was frightening - dark and evil feeling. Even my mom did not like going down there alone. And I know there was some sort of entity in my room - I was afraid of it, I think because of the basement, altho it never did any harm or anything mean - it just watched. And the interesting thing about all this - my parents never tried to talk me out of, or shame me out of, these beliefs.

I think the dark and scary basement tho is what made me afraid of the dark for so many years. Even into HS if I did not remember to leave a light on in my bedroom (totally different house - different state!) before the sun went down, one of my parents would have to go in and turn on the light before I would go in there. I am much much better know about the dark tho...

We stayed at a very strange (supposed) B&B in Anacortes WA that I know was haunted also.

Oh yes, I think our current house had poltergeist like activity when the kids were all living at home. There was one room that lights would go off and on at times when no one else was home....and the sounds of footsteps. That doesn't happen any more altho in the past few years I have felt touchs when no one else is around (usually on my head or shoulder - a patting kind of touch) and I see/feel shadowy figures. And the most comforting thing was being  able to hear my dogs after they passed on....I feel they came back to check on us to see how WE were doing and to let us know they were okay.

And yet when we lived back East one of our very favorite places that we visited yearly was Gettysburg PA.....and yes this is brought to mind because of the first episode this season of GH which was at Gettysburg (by the way, the Farnsworth House serves very good food, as does the Dobbins House....).

Since we moved back West we have visited Gettysburg twice, both times staying at a most wonderful B&B (http://www.doubledayinn.com/) which is right on one of the battlefields. So we have been on the battlefield in the dark....at dusk.....early early morning.....and I have never heard, seen, or felt anything.

Anything besides the extreme mystical-ness of this place. If any place is haunted this place should be. It is very spiritual place. And of course in the daytime there is SO MUCH traffic that I cannot believe any spirits would avail themselves of being around - it would almost be sacrilegious or maybe reliving the noise of the battle....

But you would think those other times there would be a chance. And yes, I am disappointed.

I have seen some photos that I cannot explain or totally believe are hoaxes....and I have heard recordings that I believe should be the real thing. But I have never experienced it myself. And I would  be honored to experience something like that.

I have had uneasy feelings in other places that are supposedly haunted - http://winchestermysteryhouse.com is one of those places that I felt extreme sadness and loneliness but again did not hear or see anything...

So - has anyone else had any experiences?

Dang

So I found  out the yarn I am looking for (Red Heart Soft Baby....Bunny Print) is discontinued. There are a lot if people on www.ravelry.com who have it in their stash, but none for sale. I found a skein of it for sale on www.amazon.com.....for $25.00 (plus postage)!!!! What? Cause it is discontinued people will be desperate enough to pay anything? I dont think so!                                                                                         So, at night time I can easily sleep 10 hpurs. During the day.....6 hours. What is up with that?!!?
Knowing our census was really low I kept watching my phone. Guessed maybe the other NICU nurse might have asked for call....left gor work. 5 minutes away from work, bing.....my phone shows a missed call...FROM 2 HOURS AGO!!!!!!!!!! Sure nuff....putting me on call....so I turn around and go home.                                                                                                                                           Well, there is always something good that comes from everything.....finished the Susie Rogers Reading Mitts I had started a couple of months ago!

Uh oh

You know this knitting from stash thing?
I think I jumped in without thinking it through....
Altho I have plenty of the white yarn (the baby blanket is two stranded - one white and one variegated) I don't think the one skein of the variegated is going to be enough.
It is a common, inexpensive acrylic....so I figured Walmart would have it.....nope.......so of course Joann's would have it....nope. Sigh. Cant get to Michael's until next week so I will pray they have it!!!!!

Progress

Well, I am making progress sorting out my yarn. Need to re-sort some of it but it is getting corralled all in one area! LOL

Have managed to get rid of assorted bags, small boxes, and one long and bulky storage container! All of it is going into stackable see through storage containers.....and maybe eventually make it into a database ....maybe....I can see much more floor in the junk room! And now have the room that I can finish organizing the bookshelf.

And I have used 6 balls of cotton yarn in making dishcloths for an organization to take to Haiti.....who knows, maybe I will make more but I am getting these in the mail for now.  So that is 6 balls less of yarn....

Starting a baby blanket with yarn that I found - didn't buy it! More itsy bitsy progess!

Went to Barnes & Noble last week and walked out with NOT ONE BOOK!
So what is this - 2d week of 2014? And I am still sticking with my resolution? Not bad.....only 50+ weeks to go!

Hello

So last year I misread a blog post - went thru some of my yarn and boxed up about a dozen boxes to send to a person who was collecting them for knitters in Japan. Well, I missed the deadline because SOMEHOW I missed the fact that they only sent them one time that year. I had already mailed off 2 - 3 boxes.....have no idea what happened to those boxes. But I tell you, since then I have been picking thru those boxes and using some of that giveaway yarn!

Currently on Ravelry there is a group that wants dishcloths to take to Haiti when they do their ministry. So I went thru my 2013 knitting calendar and found 5 dishcloth patterns. So I went upstairs to the cotton box....and picked out 5 different colors. I then saw that someone in the group had designed a cloth, so guess I will make 6 total!

Two are done....one is on the needles.....it is slow, but one way to knit down the stash!

Helped hubby spade and turn the dirt in our veggie beds last night. Hubby did most of it - and the rorotilling - fixed up the dirt with additives  - and then planted fava beans for a cover crop. And then pulled out a paper and planned how and the basics of what, we will be planting next year. But oh my hands hurt so bad for the rest of the day.....500 mg of Tylenol took the edge off. But amazingly - knitting made them feel better!

I have a stretch of time off in February and guess what? We just booked a stay at Disneyland. Shhh....dont tell our kids! This is a trip just for us!!!! LOL. I am working on the flights but hubby is on the phone so cant talk to him.....hope we dont miss out on the deals!

EDIT: So when we first spoke about this on Saturday husband said - oh this would be fun, just the two of us sneaking down and enjoying it. Our backup plan was going up to the Napa area - just the two of us.....So after we confirmed our reservations on Monday - what was the very first thing he did? Called both girls and told them - and invited them along!!!!!!!
When I complained about "just the two of us" turning into a family thing - I got a big time lecture about not wanting to spend time with my grandkids.....no, the point I am trying to make is DISCUSS THINGS WITH ME instead of just blindsiding me!

Anyway - got a great deal on the flight too.....

Hello?? Knock knock...Anyone Out There?

Wow - I did not post ANYTHING for over a year?  But I have thought about it! And so much has happened! I came here to tell a funny little s...
