Camping in Chowchilla

Why? Why would anyone want to go to Chowchilla to go camping?

Because hubby's bestie found a relatively new campground that offered free golf at the next door golf course!

So we went.

And it was clean, flat, nice hedges between the campsites.....And the boys made tee times for 2 of the 4 days we were there. Unfortunately, according to the golf course people,  we should have received a pamphlet from the campgrounds telling them how and when to make a tee time....but of course, to send a pamphlet the people at the campground would have had to take information like address, or phone number or something.

We did call and double check (about a week prior to camping) on the reservations because we never received any type of confirmation. And at that point they did take a phone number which was evidenced by the phone call that was on our answering machine when we got him - received about 2 PM on Saturday......we checked in at 1:00 PM on Saturday....

It was very warm, but not hot. In the 80's. But of course being in the central valley it was always windy.

And the swimming pool had a lot of restrictions - the number of people that could be at poolside or in the pool. But it didnt really matter. It was probably the smallest pool I have ever seen at a campground. Probably not the dirtiest, but pretty darn dirty. And the hot tub? Smaller than most bathtubs - and so filthy you could not even see the bottom of the tub. The day before we left they did decide to clean both, and I saw them putting chemicals in them....but then the hot tub was "closed at this time".

We almost came home with doggy #3.

Isnt he cute? The guy in the trailer across from us said he had been hanging around for a couple of weeks. Sleeping under his trailer. Breaking into his trash for food. He wanted to be friendly - wagging his tail, getting into the "play position" but he didnt really get to close to people. But he didnt mind handouts! I think we all became his buddy when he got steak bones!

He eventually let us pat him.....but long story short, he was rescued and adopted by the people in the trailer on the other side of our friends! WHEW!!!
