Photos

I am really not a baseball fan - it is way too slow and boring.......but I LOVE t-ball!!!

This is his version of sliding into home plate - running up to just before the plate and sitting himself down!
I asked him what he was doing out there - exercising? He said "I dunno"
He doesnt like the chin strap so he keeps it over his mouth ... or his nose....once even his eyes!
This is the cute little guy on Saturday....Sunday night he was in ER getting his head stiched - 3 stitches after he ran into the corner of the kitchen counter. Must be something with 4 year old boys - his 4 year old cousin had a head owie glued earlier this month...
Considering we dont know how to grow these - and the weather got hot in between the cold - look at the itsy bitty brussel sprouts we have!

I was pleased that my lilac bloomed again this spring considering it bloomed in December!

Our artichoke plant is still alive!!! YAY!!! And our peppermint survived the freezes and is going crazy. Anyone want some?

Our naked fireplace. Still looking at tiles but think we are very very close. Our neighbor brought the side pieces of the new mantel to check them - they look so good even without the mantel! Dont want to take the stove out yet as it is supposed to be cold and rainy this week.
Can anyone guess what is under that blanket???????

Fence...and Blathering....

Look what hubby did this weekend! He, and the neighbor, fixed our fence....
....which looked like this after the storms we had in February.
Fixing the fence meant that the fence was completely down this week while he tried to repair sections (we had to totally replace one of them). That meant the dog could not stay outside by himself - which was ok with him - but a pain since we had to stand at the door to watch while he went outside to do his doggy business.
Why? Cause basically dogs are nosy and they like to wander and investigate things.....like our Jack did the night hubby apparently forgot about the fence being down (the fence that he took down himself).
As he wandered around the hosue getting ready for bed - I finally asked him if he brought the dog in...which he hadnt. And why not? Well, because Jack decided to wander over in the dark and investigate the neighbors yard.

See that pool in the neighbors yard?Well, guesss Jack forgot about it and didnt see it in the dark. Cause after yelling for him a bit, hubby found him in the pool hanging on to the edge by his nails. Yes, this dog can swim. Yes, this dog swims in our pool. But apparently he had no idea where or how to get out of this pool cause hubby had to drag him out.

And then dry him off. Only he was mad at the dog - and yelling at him - so he barely dried him off. Now, hmmm.....the dog did what a dog does, and he gets yelled at?????

The way I see it is the man, who forgot to watch him is at fault.....but hey, all is well that ends well - the fence is fixed and now we can start (dont you love all these "we's"!!!) on making another bed for more veggies!

On another note - wanna hear something that makes me feel really really REALLY old??????
Hubby got an invite to his 40th (FORTIETH) HS class reunion! Yes, he is older than me, but he only graduated a year ahead of me so that means mine is next year....oh, I think I am having chect pains! LOL

Anyone seen any cute tie dye bras and leggings? I think I am going to do a tie dye theme for my Bras For The Cause Walk and put peace signs on it....maybe find some glow in the dark paint and paint some peace signs on the bra too.....also got some glow bracelets and necklaces to wear too.....should I get some daisies for my hair??????

3 - 3/4 mile walk!

Gorgeous day out! Sunny and warm. Read my schedule wrong so am off today and not tomorrow.

So beautiful out we decided to bag the gym and go on our Sycamore Grove walk. A shorter one today. So I didnt take my camera.....

And so why dagnabit, is it that whenI dont have a camera I see the best things?

The fox trotting up the middle of the road in Yosemite....can't get to my camera.

Mama Bear and her cub crossing the road in front of us in Yosemite....can't get to my camera in time....

The herd of elk in the misty meadow....no camera.

So when I do keep my camera close by and ready to go....nothing.

Today I dont take my camera to Sycamore Grove - where we see bookin' wooly caterpillers, rabbits, squirrels, woodpeckers, the awesome birds of prey - today we see a BOBCAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

MAY 8, 2010

I am walking in the Bras For the Cause 10K walk again this year.
I have been trying to train but admit that it makes my ankle ache. But I have two more months and determination is everything. The docs told me not to expect full recovery for at least a year - and that will be at the end of May...
Trying to get a team going at work again this year....but so far of all the people who said they want to do it, none have signed up.
But my daughter is walking again this year....and this year my son is walking too! I didnt know my little (ha!) scare a couple of years ago affected him as much as it did.
So I am just hoping that everyone who reads my blog will stop by www.trivalleysocks.org and make a donation to my walk ....if you can't, then I hope you read it all and take it to heart - make sure you do your self exams and get your mammo's (a few minutes of discomfort is all it involves)...and remind your friends, your sisters, your daughters, your significant others, and your mothers to do the same.
And also remember that men can get breast cancer too - so remind your significant others/husbands/sons/brothers/fathers that if they notice any changes, dont be shy - get it checked out!
I also wanted to thank everyone who contributed to my walk last year!

5 miles!

Friday was a wild day - lots of wind - lots of rain. BUT we also got to see our Nevada grandkids for a quick visit. And what a lousy grandma I am - I didnt think to get my camera out!

Got to see and air kiss Owen's glued together boo boo. And am amazed at how tall, skinny, and talkative Kaia is - well, how clearly we could understand her talk! Just wish we could have had more time with them - and could have taken them to the Little League games on Saturday.

Saturday was sunny but quite brisk. Got to see Jack play Little League for the first time! Boy, those little guys look....well....little! And watched Connor play - he didnt get a hit - but his fielding has improved so much since last year!

Today was gorgeous. Sunny and warm. So we went for a 5 mile walk in Sycamore Grove. No real good photos. Things are leafing and flowering - lots of woolie worms - is that what we use to call them?? Boy those things move FAST!

And this is my favorite new thing. MADE IN USA!! And BPA free! Light weight - and even more light weight once it is empty!

In the next few months we are going to have some additions to our house. We are turning our - amongst the most ugly - fireplace into a new one! We are going to re face the brick with tile - whenever and if ever I can choose the tile! And our neighbor is building us a new mantle along with shelves to go on either side of the fireplace. I am the worls worst interior decorator (can you tell??) so this is involving way too many decisions for me.

Since the living room is dark, we are going with light wood for the mantle and shelves, maple to be exact (we have maple cabinets in the kitchen too).

So this pathetic Ikea style cheap bookshelf will be banished to an upstairs room.....

And the TV will go over the fireplace which means we will actually have a living room/coffee table again! (That was actually hubby's great-grandmother's dining room table - his grandmother had the legs cut down to coffee table height).
I cant wait. But I have to.
The next job after that will be the stairs - instead of open stairs where everything falls thru onto the floor underneath - they will be solid stairs - and we are going to enclose the under part into something - closet, drawers, we dont know yet. And replace the ugly ugly ugly iron railing with wood railing.
And I am still slowly digging out the junk room to turn it into an office. Slwoly because I dont have enough time off right now to do much of anything + it kills me allergy wise with all the dust!!!! It will be easier to do once we have that (ugly) bookshelf upstairs too.

Aging

Why is so much about aging kept a secret? Or is it that we just dont pay attention when we are younger? I mean we all know about the wrinkl...
